Lighthouse on
Nevis: Trusts, LLCs, and Multiform Foundations.
Nevis trusts, limited liability companies and multiform foundations in one reference, from formation and governance to creditor claims, litigation and tax, for the counsel who establish, advise on and defend Nevis structures.
By the Lighthouse Editorial Board · First Edition
Why it matters
A Nevis structure is tested under several ordinances at once.
Trusts, LLCs and foundations, together
The International Exempt Trust Ordinance, the Limited Liability Company Ordinance and the Multiform Foundations Ordinance read side by side, with a closing chapter on combining the three and a drafting guide.
The creditor’s path in Nevis
Fraudulent dispositions, the standard of proof and limitation periods, the creditor’s bond and other conditions on suit, foreign judgments and firewall provisions, and the charging order under section 60.
In the Nevis courts and abroad
Procedure, injunctions, freezing orders and disclosure before the High Court, the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal and the Privy Council, and Nevis structures before foreign courts: contempt, repatriation orders and bankruptcy.
Regulation, tax and reporting in the same book
The regulator and registered agents, Nevis taxation and exempt status, tax information exchange agreements, FATCA and the Common Reporting Standard, beneficial ownership and AML, and U.S. tax and reporting.

Judgment Firewalls Compared
Table 23-2 compares the judgment firewalls for Nevis trusts, LLCs and foundations with those of the Cook Islands, Belize, Jersey and the British Virgin Islands: the provision, who and what is protected, the trigger, and the position of creditors in an insolvency (¶ 2390).
The firewalls share a design: a bar on enforcing a foreign judgment concerning a local trust, limited by the content of the judgment, and a choice-of-law rule excluding foreign heirship and matrimonial claims. They differ in the persons and property covered, the conditions that trigger the bar and the treatment of creditors (¶ 2390.01).

Model Forms and Checklists
The appendices give counsel a model form for each Nevis vehicle, with commentary and schedules, each tied to the paragraphs that explain it.
Who wrote it
Written by the people who wrote the statutes.
Lighthouse on Nevis: Trusts, LLCs, and Multiform Foundations is prepared by the Lighthouse Editorial Board. Its Editor-in-Chief is one of the primary authors of the Cook Islands Limited Liability Companies Act, led the committee that drafted the 2015 amendments to the Nevis International Exempt Trust Ordinance, and leads the committee drafting the current amendments to the Nevis Limited Liability Company Ordinance.
The Board has contributed to limited-liability-company and asset-protection-trust legislation in Nevis, Belize, Wyoming, Delaware, Ohio and North Carolina, and draws on the practice of Lighthouse Trust, a multinational trust company established in 1982 and resident across nine jurisdictions.
