Lighthouse on Asset Protection is prepared by the Lighthouse Editorial Board.
John Vincent, Editor-in-Chief, is General Counsel of Lighthouse Trust, a multinational trust company established in 1982 and resident across nine jurisdictions. His practice centers on the law of creditors’ remedies and asset protection: charging-order protection under domestic and offshore limited-liability-company statutes, voidable-transfer law under the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act, and the avoidance powers and periods of repose that govern when a protective structure will hold.
He holds a Juris Doctor and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He is one of the primary authors of the Cook Islands Limited Liability Companies Act, led the committee that prepared the current revisions to that Act, which are pending before the Cook Islands Parliament, and has contributed to revisions and amendments of limited-liability-company and asset-protection-trust legislation in Nevis, Belize, Wyoming, Delaware, Ohio and North Carolina. He led the committee that drafted the 2015 amendments to the Nevis International Exempt Trust Ordinance, and leads the committee drafting the current amendments to the Nevis Limited Liability Company Ordinance. He is the presenter of The Watchtower Series of continuing legal education.
The Board’s other contributors are members of Lighthouse’s in-house legal team, Lighthouse’s external counsel in several leading asset protection jurisdictions, and attorneys who have worked with Lighthouse on behalf of their clients.
