¶ A01
Introduction
Scope of the glossary. This appendix collects the technical and legal terms used in the treatise, with the meaning each chapter gives them. It contains the Key Terms listed at the opening of each chapter, the vocabulary fixed in ¶ 180 and explained in ch. 2, and the defined terms of the statutes and regulations most often applied in the text.
How the entries are framed. Each entry states the meaning the treatise uses and refers to the paragraphs where the term is defined or examined. Where a statute defines a term, the entry gives the definition in short form with its citation; the statute itself, and the chapter discussing it, control. Appendix B reproduces the enacted text of Article 12, RUFADAA and the Wyoming DAO Supplement.
Terms with more than one meaning. Several words carry different meanings in different regimes. Digital asset, custody, custodian, broker and control are the principal examples. The entry for each such term gives the treatise's own usage first, as fixed in ¶¶ 180.06 to 180.10, and then the statutory variants. When a chapter applies a source that uses a term in another sense, that chapter states the source's meaning and applies it.
Arrangement. Entries are alphabetical, word by word, with terms beginning in numerals first. Abbreviations in common use are given in parentheses after the full term and are also entered under the abbreviation where the text uses the abbreviation alone. The law is stated as of November 2026.
